Defining our responsibilities, and what they mean to us, helps focus our efforts so that our customers, Government and other stakeholders know what to expect. We’ve identified our Corporate Responsibilities to drive our actions and to show our responsible and sustainable approach to how we do business. These now provide the framework and direction for our CR programme. For this to be successful we must work further towards integrating Corporate Responsibility (CR) into everyday business activity.
In 2008, the UK Board agreed to nominate a Board member to lead each Corporate Responsibility to drive the delivery of each area. 2009 will see full implementation of this structure. To strengthen CR strategy and performance, the Board will also agree key performance indicators, along with targets that are credible and in line with external expectations, for each Corporate Responsibility to encompass all aspects of our performance. These leading KPIs, once agreed, will be owned by the business to deliver Changing Energy, our business strategy.
Our Chief Executive, Paul Golby, is also co-chair of the E.ON Group Corporate Responsibility Council which makes recommendations to the Board, oversees CR management and strategy, and monitors implementation of CR goals. Our Director of Corporate Affairs also sits on the Group CR Council and is responsible for CR in the UK and ensures that it features regularly on the Board agenda.
The Head of CR in the UK works to ensure we have a robust CR programme. She works with partners from across the business to embed CR within everyday business and to reflect CR in every aspect of our business.
