How we do business

CR Governance

Our customers and stakeholders are increasingly expecting us to tell them how we’re fulfilling our responsibilities in tackling the key issues that affect our business.

Defining our responsibilities, and what they mean to us, helps focus our efforts so that our customers, Government and other stakeholders know what to expect. The Our Responsibilities programme continues to drive our actions and provide an opportunity to clearly demonstrate our responsible and sustainable approach to how we do business. For the last 3 years, these have provided the framework and direction for our CR programme.

For this to be successful we continue to work towards integrating Corporate Responsibility (CR) into everyday business activity. Our internal performance report is structured around Our Responsibilities providing strategic direction to our Executive Board. We have also embedded them into our risk management processes.

In 2010, we started laying the foundation of the CR Committee composed of directors and senior leaders in the business. The purpose of the committee is to ensure governance of our CR reporting process, and to ensure stakeholder engagement is material, responsive and inclusive.

Our Chief Executive, Paul Golby, is also Co-Chair of the E.ON Group Corporate Responsibility Council which makes recommendations to the E.ON A.G. Board, oversees CR management and strategy, and monitors implementation of CR goals. Our Director of Corporate Affairs also sits on the Group CR Council and is responsible for CR in the UK and ensures that it features regularly on the Board agenda.

In 2011, E.ON launched a new strategy called cleaner & better energy. In the coming months, we will review Our Responsibilities, to sharpen our focus and align our CR programme to our new business strategy.
